Claude Code, VS Code, Codex, Copilot and Muse Code¶
Any client that speaks MCP over streamable HTTP with OAuth works. There is nothing to configure but the URL. No key, no header, no client id. Cursor and Grok Bot install from their listings. Claude Code, Codex, Copilot and Muse Code can also install the connector together with its skills as an agent plugin.
Endpoints¶
https://mcp.freightright.com/mcp
Your live Freight Right account: real shipments, real prices, real bookings. This is the URL used throughout these pages, and the one the agent plugins ship.
https://staging-mcp.sm.freightright.com/mcp
For developers testing an integration. Sign in with a staging Shipment Manager account; everything there is test data, and a booking placed there reaches nobody.
Every example below uses the production URL. To test an integration against staging, add the staging URL the same
way under a different server name (say freight-right-staging) and sign in with a staging account when the browser
opens.
Claude Code¶
claude mcp add --transport http freight-right https://mcp.freightright.com/mcp
Then, inside Claude Code:
/mcp → Authenticate
VS Code¶
.vscode/mcp.json in your workspace:
{
"servers": {
"freight-right": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://mcp.freightright.com/mcp"
}
}
}
Codex¶
~/.codex/config.toml:
[mcp_servers.freight-right]
url = "https://mcp.freightright.com/mcp"
tool_timeout_sec = 60
Then:
codex mcp login freight-right
GitHub Copilot CLI¶
copilot mcp add --transport http freight-right https://mcp.freightright.com/mcp
Copilot opens Freight Right's sign-in in your browser the first time a session uses the server; copilot mcp list
shows what is configured.
Muse Code¶
~/.config/muse/settings.json (keep whatever else the file holds):
{
"schema_version": 1,
"mcpServers": {
"freight-right": {
"type": "streamable-http",
"url": "https://mcp.freightright.com/mcp",
"mode": "optional"
}
}
}
Then:
muse mcp login freight-right
mode: optional keeps Muse Code starting when the connector is unreachable. Never put required beside mode on
the same entry. The sign-in opens your browser, or prints the URL with --headless.
Cursor, and the Grok CLI
Cursor installs from the Cursor Marketplace. The manual ~/.cursor/mcp.json entry is an advanced option on that page.
Grok Bot is a different product. Add it from the Grok Bot listing. The Grok CLI commands are on the agent plugins page.
MCP Inspector¶
Useful for reading the tool schemas by hand:
npx @modelcontextprotocol/inspector
Transport Streamable HTTP, the connector URL, then Connect. It runs the same OAuth flow in your browser.
Timeouts
A price check asks carriers live and can take up to a minute. Clients that let you set a tool timeout should
allow at least 60 seconds; if yours gives up sooner, the connector hands back a pricing_id and the assistant
collects the offers with a second, instant call.
Approval is your client's setting, not ours
Command-line clients differ in whether they ask before running a tool that writes. A quote request is a real message to our pricing team, and a request to our team is sent only with the version you previewed, after you said to send it. A booking is the one thing no client can send: it is confirmed by you, on Freight Right's own page. What a write guarantees.
