Quickstart

Two minutes, no API key. In Claude, Cursor or Grok Bot, find Freight Right in the directory and click Add or Connect. For any other assistant, paste one URL, sign in to Freight Right once, and approve what it may do.

The connector URL

Production Live

Your live Freight Right account: real shipments, real prices, real bookings. This is the URL used throughout these pages, and the one the agent plugins ship.

Staging Live 
https://staging-mcp.sm.freightright.com/mcp

For developers testing an integration. Sign in with a staging Shipment Manager account; everything there is test data, and a booking placed there reaches nobody.

Connect in four steps

  1. Find Freight Right, or add the connector In Claude, Cursor or Grok Bot, open the listing and click Add or Connect. The exact place is below, one tab per client. For any other assistant, paste the connector URL into its connector settings.

  2. Sign in to Freight Right Your browser opens Freight Right. Sign in with your usual Shipment Manager login, or create a free account right there. The assistant never sees your password, and there is nothing to paste back.
  3. Approve what it may do You get one list, in plain words, of everything the assistant will be able to do. Approve it and you are connected. What each line means.
  4. Ask something Start a new chat. Your assistant shows you when it uses Freight Right.

Where that setting lives

Freight Right is in the Claude Connectors Directory. Open the listing and click Connect, or in Claude open Customize → Connectors, find Freight Right and click Connect. On Team or Enterprise plans, an Owner adds it for the organization first. Full walkthrough: Claude.

Can't use the directory? Customize → Connectors → Add custom connector, paste the URL, then Add and Connect. If Freight Right is already there as a custom connector, remove it first. Both use the same URL.

Settings → Connectors → Advanced → Developer mode → Create → paste the URL, authentication OAuth → Connect. Full walkthrough: ChatGPT.

Open the Cursor Marketplace listing and click Add to Cursor. Or in Cursor open Customize, search Freight Right and click Install. Full walkthrough: Cursor. Adding the URL to ~/.cursor/mcp.json is an advanced option on that page.

Open the Grok Bot plugin (plugin id 74434629) and add it. Grok Bot is a separate product from the Grok chat app. Full walkthrough: Grok Bot.

Cursor and Grok Bot install from their listings. Claude Code, Codex, Copilot CLI, the Grok CLI and Muse Code can install the connector together with the skills that teach an assistant how to use it: agent plugins. The plugin ships this same URL.

Things to try first

  • Where is HBL 12753912?
  • Which of my shipments arrive in the next seven days?
  • Price 2 × 40HC Shanghai → Los Angeles, port to port, I'm importing.
  • Ask Freight Right to quote a full truckload Los Angeles → Monterrey, dry van, 42,000 lb.
  • I want special rates for Shanghai to Los Angeles in the next 2 months for a container. Ask the team.

A price check asks carriers live

It can take up to a minute. Clients that let you set a tool timeout should allow at least 60 seconds; if yours gives up sooner, the connector hands back a pricing_id and the assistant collects the offers with a second, instant call. Nothing is wasted. See limits.

Disconnect whenever you like

Freight Right → Profile → Connected assistants → Disconnect. The assistant loses access immediately, everywhere.
